FYI quoting here a discord message from @hashdag (and myself) about the DK grant: ---------- Addressing below some repeating questions about the DAGKNIGHT grant: 0) DAGKNIGHT is a new consensus protocol (the first parameterless responsive POW one), it is the result of academic efforts by Michael and I, and we have full certainty regarding its properties and correctness. The protocol is an open product of academic research, it belongs neither to Kaspa nor to us, it’s a standalone academic contribution. ---------- 1) Why do we need a 70M grant? We don't.. we will implement DAGKNIGHT either way, for free, because we believe in the utility of the protocol and want to see it implemented. ----------- 2) The 70M grant request is in case there’s community demand for us to shift our full time occupation to implement it. Shifting to full time involves a whole new set of considerations and risk factors, hence the ask. 3) If the grant request is not filled we will continue with the default path of implementing it for free on our own time. In that case, the collected funds should not go to us, since we will work on it with no commitment to timeline, in weekend mode. Rather, they should either be refunded to the generous contributors or allocated to other purposes, presumably following a community vote. 4) If any community member still feels there’s ambiguity regarding DAGKNIGHT and the grant request, feel free to reply to this message and ask for clarifications. Though, please read first the blogpost, KIP, and grant proposal (which are the only three texts I’m responsible for). 5) It might be the case that Kaspa development is less sustainable through grants than we would have wanted, in which case different structures should be considered by me/you/her/anyone who realizes the very high potential of Kaspa. I believe there are sufficient incentives in play to make sense of this. Link to discord message:
